Ladies News

On Thursday 11^th July Nicky, Sandra, Carolyn, Louise and Anne challenged the Hawarden ladies for the Boyle Cup.

This cup is a very prestigious trophy to hold – it was donated in 1914 by Mrs Boyle as a matchplay competition for Canterbury ladies.

Despite our best efforts, Hawarden defeated Hanmer by 4 -1.

My thanks to the ladies who represented Hanmer in this event and also to Bev who very kindly caddied for me.

The Open Championship kicks off this week at Royal Troon in the UK.

There are 4 kiwi golfers in this years open, Ryan Fox, Daniel Hillier, Kazuma Kobori and Michael Hendy. 

The attendance is expected to be excess of 250,000 spectators over the 4 days.

Royal Troon features one of the longest (570m) and shortest (90m) holes in Open history.

The winner will walk away with an incredible NZ$5,100,000 in prize money for 4 days work.
