A message from Hanmer Springs Golf Club President
Graham Heenan
Having been a member of the Hanmer Springs Golf Club for 32 years , and retiring recently with more time to spare now, I believed it was time that I contributed back to the Club. Hence my decision to stand as President and I am honoured to accept the role.
My wife Bev and I live in Prebbleton but we have had a holiday house in Hanmer since 1990.
For a large part of my management career I worked for DB and I was South Island Manager from 1987-93. Since then I have been a full time chairman, or director, of 30+ trading companies and organisations. Of special relevance, I spent 16 years on the Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools & Spa Committee through two major redevelopments, including 9 years as Chairman up until 2012. It has been fantastic to see the growth of the village, at least partly on the back of the success of the thermal pools.
My thanks go to Jeff Dalley and members of the outgoing committee for handing over the reins of the Golf Club in such a healthy state.
We have a great course, sound financials and excellent staff. I am very fortunate that I will be working alongside very talented and dedicated committee members.
We will try to keep members well informed and we will always welcome constructive criticism and suggestions from members as we move forward.
We will get things done!
Our primary focus in the next few months will be to find a solution to the Club's water supply problem.
With best wishes
Graham
